Workers' Compensation
The DC Office of Workers' Compensation under the Department of Employment Services (DOES) handles claims.
What to do if you're hurt at work:- Report the injury to your employer immediately.
- Seek medical treatment.
- File a claim with the Office of Workers' Compensation.
- Notify your employer within 30 days.
- File a formal claim within 1 year.

State Disability Programs
DC does not have a separate state disability insurance program but has DC Paid Family Leave.
- Provides up to 12 weeks of paid leave for serious health conditions, 12 weeks for family care, and 12 weeks for parental leave.
