Workers' Compensation
The Florida Division of Workers' Compensation under the Department of Financial Services handles claims.
What to do if you're hurt at work:- Report the injury to your employer within 30 days.
- Your employer must report it to their insurance carrier within 7 days.
- The insurer authorizes medical treatment.
- Report to your employer within 30 days.
- File a Petition for Benefits within 2 years (1 year for death benefits).
- Employers with 4+ employees must carry workers' comp (construction: 1+ employees).
- Benefits include medical care, temporary total/partial disability, impairment benefits, and death benefits.
- Temporary total disability pays 66 2/3% of average weekly wage.
- Employer/insurer selects the treating physician.

State Disability Programs
Florida does not have a state disability insurance program. Apply through federal SSDI/SSI at ssa.gov or call 1-800-772-1213.
Medicaid
Florida Medicaid is administered by the Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA).
