Workers' Compensation
The Georgia State Board of Workers' Compensation handles claims.
What to do if you're hurt at work:- Report the injury to your employer immediately.
- Your employer selects the treating physician from a posted panel of at least six doctors.
- File a claim if benefits are not provided.
- Notify your employer within 30 days.
- File a formal claim within 1 year of the injury (2 years if benefits were paid).
- Employers with 3+ employees must carry workers' compensation insurance.
- Benefits include medical treatment, temporary total/partial disability, and permanent partial disability.
- Temporary total disability pays 66 2/3% of average weekly wage.
- Maximum 400 weeks for most benefits.

State Disability Programs
Georgia does not have a state disability insurance program. Apply through federal SSDI/SSI.
Medicaid
Georgia Medicaid is administered by the Department of Community Health (DCH).
