Workers' Compensation

The Maine Workers' Compensation Board handles claims.

1. Report the injury to your employer immediately.
2. Seek medical treatment -- you may choose your own provider.
3. File a petition with the Board if benefits are denied.

State Disability Programs

Maine does not have a state disability insurance program but has Maine Paid Family and Medical Leave, beginning in 2026.

For disability benefits, apply through federal SSDI/SSI.
