Workers' Compensation

The Maryland Workers' Compensation Commission handles claims.

What to do if you're hurt at work:
  1. Report the injury to your employer within 10 days.
  2. Seek medical treatment.
  3. File a claim with the Commission if benefits are not provided.

State Disability Programs

Maryland has Temporary Disability Insurance (TDI) only for certain workers. Most disability benefits come through federal programs. Maryland also has Family and Medical Leave Insurance (FAMLI) beginning in 2026.

For long-term disability, apply through federal SSDI/SSI.

Maryland Medicaid is administered by the Department of Health.
