Workers' Compensation

The Vermont Department of Labor, Workers' Compensation Division handles claims.

What to do if you're hurt at work:
  1. Report the injury to your employer as soon as possible.
  2. Seek medical treatment -- you may choose your own doctor.

State Disability Programs

Vermont does not have a state disability insurance program but has Vermont Paid Family and Medical Leave Insurance (FMLI), beginning in 2025.

For long-term disability, apply through federal SSDI/SSI.
